Dear Kong Harald og Dronning Sonja;
RE: The Heedless Norseman
Please forgive an old Norwegian born Canadian for writing to you in English rather than Norwegian. There are a couple of good reasons for that. After about 50 years in Canada, my English is much better than my Norwegian, and I don’t have a Norwegian spell checker on my P.C.
I have written a light hearted book with stories describing the pranks that my identical twin brother and I did growing up in Norway, and my often humorous attempts at becoming a farmer. The book has only been on the market for a few months, but I have already received a number of positive feedbacks.
The book is a gift to you, and I hope that you will laugh a bit, and that it will put smiles on your faces. I believe that there is a great need for lighthearted prose in today’s society, and this is my initial contribution. There is another manuscript being processed by the publisher, and I hope to have my second book out early in 2014.
I have also enclosed some comments from my readers, including The Norwegian Ambassador to Canada, Her Excellency Mona Brother.
I trust you will find my book to be entertaining, and worthy a place on your coffee table or bookshelf.
Sincerely,
Kaare Askildt
